Information and Situation to Soller and Port de Soller
Puerto de Sóller, or called as well Port de Sóller has got an unic well protected natural harbour. Part of the bay is a sandy beach with many visitors during the summer time. An antic tram brings the visitors from Sóller to the Port, where one can linger in the bars or taste the tasteful ice cream of Sóller known with the name "Fet a Sóller" or eat in one of the good restaurants in Sóller. Here in the Port of Sóller, every year is celebrated the big folk festival which is in honor to the victory of the invading Moors.
Sóller is situated in the west of Majorca, embedded between the mountains and surrounded by orange plantations. The small locality is easy to reach by car. You can go through the impressive mountain pass "Coll de Sóller" of the height of 496m or easier - you can use the tunnel to go to Sóller. The romantic variant is the train that started operating already in 1913.
You go through the gorgeous landscapes, pass through numerous short tunnels and arrive directly at the centre of Sóller. If you wish to go farther to the port of Sóller, just get on the tram. Nature lovers are recommended to visit the botanic garden and the natur history museum. On Saturdays the weekly market takes place. On the second Saturday of May the landing of the Moors is imitated in Port de Sóller (4.9km). You should not miss this big spectacle. The patron saint of the locality is the Holy Bartomeu and is celebrated on the 23th and 24th of August.
