Information and situation to Selva
4 km north of Inca lays the small village of Selva – right on the edge of the Tamuntana range. In 1301 Selva was awarded by King James II with market rights and it was a thriving little town. But where there is light there is also shadow – as bandits lived in the hilly landscapes of Selva and played havoc with until the 18th Century. Nowadays there are no bandits in the mountains anymore and Selva is a peaceful village. It is located in middle of the nature reserve and boasts original charm. The countryside surrounding the village is very versatile. On one hand very mountainous – the foothills of the Tramuntana range and on the other hand the flat plain of Es Pla – rural and dotted with almond and olive trees. The village is best to be explored on foot – the parish church of Sant Lorenc dating back to the 14th Century is considered one of the oldest churches in Mallorca. Also worth seeing are the old mansions in place which let flow an air of wealth through the streets.
