The Cala Mesquida is a bay with a beach of fine sand of 300 meters lenght and 130 meters width in the northeast of the island. The bay is located in a protected landscape.
In the urbanisation of the same name, which is located on the west side of the bay, are to be found hotels, restaurants, bars and even a German butcher for the daily necssity.
Several times ships were shipwrecked in this bay. During a while a French ship could be seen which had shipwrecked due to the fog. Although this, Cala Mesquida is considered as a good anchorage if you have not the bad chance to come across with the squally Tramuntana wind.
To active tourists a hicking tour from Cala Mesquida to Cala Agulla is recommended, crossing the Cap des Freu. On the summit a fabulous panoramic view over the Sierra de Tramuntana and the sea. On a clear day you can even see the neighbour island Menorca. On the east of Cala Mesquida stands up the „Es Telégraf“, where is to be found a ruin of a tower.
If you want to visit one of the weekly markets where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables of the region, make a trip to Capdepera on Wednesday to the market and visit the market and the castle complex.
