Information and situation to Santa Ponsa
The tourist site Santa Ponsa is situated approximately 30 kilometers south-west of the island capital city Palma. The large part of the bay of Santa Ponsa is stony and rocky, however, in the center there is about 300 meters long, wide sandy beach that invites you to swim. The flat sloping and therefore suitable for kids beach you can reach in few minutes. Santa Ponsa gained popularity when in 2010 Daniela Katzenberger opened her café here. In 2011 Jürgen Drews “The king of Majorca” also opened here his both pubs that are situated about 1 km away from each other.
You should definitely visit them! Directly next to the locality Santa Ponsa there are 3 nice golf courses – fantastically located. Offside of the center of Santa Ponsa on the south located headland called Sa Caletta there is an impressive stone like crucifix (Cruz de la Conquista), that was constructed to remembrance of the arrival of the king Jaume I, on 12.09.1229. His army of 17000 men land here and won over Muslim Moors that at that time had control of the regency. On the first weekend of September the landing of the king Jaume I is celebrated in Santa Ponsa – it is worth seeing.
