Information and situation to Randa
Randa is located on the route from Palma de Mallorca to Manacor, in the south of Algaida. The village lies at the foot of the homonyms mountain with the monasteries in idyllic surroundings. The tiny village is marked by stone houses, lush gardens and flowers. It is worth seeing the three monasteries Sanctuary of Gràcia, Sanctuary of Sant Honorat and Sanctuary of Cura. The Sanctuary of Cura was founded in the 13th Century and was the training school of the Majorcan Ramón Llull - the founder of the hermits on the island. The building features a library with a collection of antic books and scripts. The Santuari de Sant Honorat was founded in 1394, however the present-day walls come from 17 century and are only accessible for trades.
The Santuari de Grácia was founded in 15 century and it is situated under an overhanging cliff. To the municipality Algaida belong also the localities Randa and Pina. Six smaller mountains belong to Algaida, among them the most famous is the Puig Randa with its 544m. Algaida is a fruitful locality, situated approximately 3,5km away from Randa. A lot of wind mills, one parish church and a glass-blowing company with its traditional factory that invites to visit it are places worth seeing in the nearest neighbourhood.
