Portocolom (also Porto Colom) – like other places on Mallorca – offers a superlative: Portocolom has got the biggest natural port on the island that partially is used for private boats transport but at the same time is one of the most significant fisher ports on Majorca. The locality in the port is adorable and you should definitely see it! A very romantic place and still typical for Majorca. The locality is situated by a big port bay that builds a natural protection against the wind and water.
Portocolom inhabitants claim that the sailor Christoph Columbus was born here – from him derives the name! Who knows if it is true? What´s for sure – the place has a natural beauty. It has an old town area around the port that is very well maintained and touristic area in th residential area “Sa Punta”. Walking along the alleys you will find many shops and good bars and restaurants.
